This Alpine town is a living treasure-house filled with 800 years worth of history, rich tradition, and a wealth of epic stories. One’s senses cannot escape the notable medieval architecture or the pleasant aroma of fresh baked apple strudel while strolling through old-world alleys and picturesque cobblestone streets embracing a fusion of Innsbruck’s past and present.
Innsbruck, famous for not once but twice hosting the Winter Olympics, is the capital of Tyrol. Innsbruck is a quaint city and has earned the name “Treasure of the Alps”. Laying at the very heart of the Austrian Alps, nestled in the valley of the Inn River, tucked between the northern Alps and the Tuxer mountain range; it is the only major city in the European Alps. Nowhere else can you witness such a breathtaking view of the jagged icy peaks and escarpments of the main Alpine range gleaming in the distance under the sunlight.
Airport
For the most convenient travel to the conference we recommend that IPTA attendees choose one of the three airport suggestions: Innsbruck, Salzburg, or Munich.
Innsbruck has its own airport, located about 3 km from the city center which can be reached either by public bus or by taxi. From many international airports within Europe, such as Vienna, Amsterdam or Frankfurt, there are several daily flights to Innsbruck. Furthermore, there is a direct connection from London Gatwick three times each week. However, you are advised to make early bookings since flights to Innsbruck only have a limited number of seats.
From Munich
One of the fastest and least expensive ways to get to Innsbruck is by landing at Munich Airport. This airport is located about 180 km or a scenic two hour drive from Innsbruck. From Munich Airport IPTA has organized a discounted rate for bus service through Four Seasons Travel Agency.
